[NEWS] PRESIDENT MARTELLY, MILEY CYRUS MEET TO INAUGURATE NEW SCHOOL

President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Michel Joseph Martelly visited this Tuesday, October 4, at Arcahaie and St. Marc to realize the progress of the historic event of free education initiated throughout all the country.
At Lully, in the town of Arcahaie, the Head of State participated in the inauguration of the Lully Community School, built by the Digicel Foundation. On site, President Martelly met with the American singer and actress Miley Cyrus, who plays Hannah Montana on TV. Cyrus is engaged in philanthropic efforts in Haiti, and shares the ideals of the free education program of the President.
In the afternoon, the President of the Republic distributed school kits to several students from a dozen schools, gathered at the High School Pivert, in the town of St. Marc. The Head of State, speaking to schoolchildren, stressed the importance of education and promised to quickly integrate the school feeding program in educational institutions in the region. “A hungry stomach has no ears,” once again added the Head of State.
President Martelly used his visit to the Artibonite to emphasize the importance of teacher training and the establishment of a national program of universal education, applicable to all schools throughout the country. The President of the Republic has the duty to observe closely and in consultation with relevant institutions, the implementation of various programs that have allowed 772,000 school children to attend school for free this year. This Wednesday, October 5, President Martelly will be in the Central Plateau.
